California Academy of Sciences’ Steinhart Aquarium

Museum

Filled with otherworldly creatures, brilliant coral reef ecosystems, and mysterious beauty, California Academy of Sciences’ Steinhart Aquarium’s “Twilight Zone: Deep Reefs Revealed” ignites the imagination. Group Delphi’s role was to capture this breathtaking excursion into the unknown in a 3,150-square-foot exhibit in one of the largest natural history museums in the world.

VENTURE INTO THE UNKNOWN Group Delphi partnered with the museum’s design staff and building contractor to create a truly unforgettable experience of life under the sea. 2D and 3D designs inspired by the topography and organisms of tropical reef habitats, along with up close and personal encounters with live animals, encourage a visitor journey of rich exploration.
A MAGICAL MYSTERY RIDE “Twilight Zone: Deep Reefs Revealed” is a preeminent exhibit of coral reef science. It’s a magical journey to a virtual twilight zone right here on Earth. And if that’s not enough, people are invited to discover, appreciate, and learn how to protect one of the planet’s most important ecosystems.
UNDER THE SEA The exhibit was open to the public throughout installation. To ensure minimal disruption, Group Delphi created a plan to insulate visitors from disturbances. Within the aquarium walls, visitors can now interact with stranger-than-fiction characters that dwell in the depths, where traditional scuba gear and sunlight dare not go. Bright accents of colorful paint and graphics draw people through a space full of imaginative displays, compelling media, and cutting-edge science.
“From species displayed nowhere else in the world to exhibits about cutting-edge research in little-known ocean ecosystems, a visit to Steinhart Aquarium is full of discovery.”
