This was the Human Resources Network’s first ever stateside trade show — the newest addition to their six-year-old conference program, which has included Paris, London, and Amsterdam. Speakers from Google, Cisco, and even Gary Vaynerchuk of VaynerMedia, and Sir Richard Branson of Virgin Group were slated to arrive amongst the sea of the 1,700 registered. They were there to learn about innovative HR technologies and hear from those who built their empires around human connection. And Group Delphi was the general contractor in charge of it all.

Our challenge The venue. Fort Mason is a National Park Service-owned, historic landmark in California’s Bay Area. While visually stunning, it’s a heavily-regulated building with no loading docks and significant wifi and cabling challenges. Other factors to consider were the transportation of 55 exhibitor exhibit elements, AV hardware and integration, a 1,200-person theater, international client collaboration, union regulations, and budget-conscious design.
The results Charney says, “It felt a whole lot like the future … In short, HR Tech World proved to be just as successful in its approach and philosophy as it has been in Europe, where in a few short years, it’s become the go-to show for everyone in the industry (and beyond), not to mention the fastest growing trade show in our space. That’s because in a world of same [stuff], different hashtag, this conference was something altogether different.”
How we solved it. With Group Delphi’s vast production space and resources, we were able to streamline costs while delivering an event that “knocked it out of the park on the first swing,” according to HR Tech World attendee and Chief Content Officer at Allegis Global Solutions and Executive Editor at Recruiting Daily, Matt Charney. The energy within the Fort’s historic walls was palpable. The flow of the trade show floor was designed so that attendees eager to hear HR luminaries speak about the future would first filter through the exhibitor experiences.
